	老花 (Presbyopia / Old-sight)

老花 (Presbyopia / Old-sight):
‧定義 definition:
        一種屈光不正: 隨著年齡增加, 眼睛的調節力(變焦能力)下降,不能滿足看近距離影物,如閱讀的要求
        A kind of refraction error which develops as result of aging. It is caused by the reduction of amplitude of accommodation (focusing) for near tasks, such as reading.

‧成因 Cause:
        四十歲後, 眼睛內的晶體開始缺乏彈性, 因而影響眼睛的調節能力
        Usually, after 40 years old, the crystalline lens inside the eyeball lost its flexibility and elasticity, that caused the reduction in amplitude of accommodation (ability of focusing near).

If you find the green field clearer than the red field, you may get presbyopia (old-sight) already. You are better to have full eye check by qualified optometrist.

‧治療 Treatment:
        戴(凸透鏡)老花眼鏡/ 隱形眼鏡來幫助閱讀
        Use of convex lenses for focusing near tasks.

        老花眼鏡分類 Classification of reading glasses:
                          1. 單光老花眼鏡: 只可供閱讀之用                                          Single reading glasses: Only for near reading
                          2. 雙光老花眼鏡,: 可供看遠及近之用                                      Bifocal spectacles: Can be used for distance and near
                          3. 多光老花眼鏡: 普遍是漸進眼鏡, 可供看遠、中距離及看近之用    Multifocal or progressive spectacles: for distant, middle and near
                          4. Mono-vision: 可供看遠及近之用           Mono-vision spectacles: for distant and near but scarifying the stereopsis (distant judgment)

eyehk	:	漸進眼鏡片 (Multi-focal lenses / progressive lenses): - 一種眼鏡片,它的屈光度數隋鏡片的位置變化 A kind of spectacle lenses with multiple foci for varying distance. - 屈光度數的變化通常是垂直的, 如漸進老花眼鏡片上方是看遠景物的(>6m),中間是看中距離的(~100cm-50cm),下方是看近距離的(<50cm) The changing of focal power usually in vertical manner. For example, the top zone is for distance >6m, middle zone for intermediate distance (~100cm-50cm), bottom zone for reading (<50cm). - 鏡片的現面設計需要精密的電腦計算 The design of lens surface needs sophisticated calculations. - 用途 Usage: - 治療老花,眼睛調節力不足和控制/減慢近視加深的兒童漸進眼鏡 Treatment for presbyopia (old sight), accommodation insufficiency and children myopic control. - 缺點 Disadvantages: - 價錢是一般單一度數鏡片的好幾倍至十多倍 Usually the price is higher than most of the single focal lenses - 鏡片的兩旁出現影像變形, 使得配戴者難以適應 Distortion at peripheral zones (鏡片的兩旁影像變形越少,視野越廣闊, 越舒適) (the less distortion, the more comfortable will experienced) - 市面上的漸進眼鏡片價錢差異很大, 兩旁越少影像變形的設計,價錢越貴 The price range of progressive lenses are very big.
